The perfect side or mid fade is a crucial decision making aspect of any piece of modern art, painting, drawing, sculpture or piece of jewellery. This simple concept is the main difference between most people’s view of artists as they stand just a little to the right or left of the picture. This simple difference is so small that it is impossible to be undetectable in normal everyday lighting conditions.
Side Part: Side parts are used in almost all cases for texturizing and for trimming textured designs such as shaded areas or an outline. Side pieces are generally made with thicker materials such as gold leaf, but can also come in brass, steel plate, acrylic fibre, celluloid and paper fibre, all depending on the style of the artist and the message they wish to communicate. Mid fade is normally used for highlighting certain objects and enhancing shadows, this technique is most commonly used for paintings by traditional artists. The technique was originally developed in Cuba and is becoming increasingly popular around the world. It is also growing in popularity as an effect of emerging photography techniques such as digital photography and film photography.
Mid Fade: These types of quilters are mainly used for quilting fabrics with very complex background designs which have more than one colour. The quilt is normally put together first before anything else. This design or technique is used to emphasise the layers of colour and texture in the quilt. It is possible to obtain this type of quilt from almost any quilting house but the more expensive ones are very intricate and only suitable for quilting grandmasters.
